Toothache: First and for most keep the tooth area clean including around the gum. Rise with warm water and gently use dental floss to clean the gum next to the tooth to remove any food residual or debris. If any facial area becomes swollen apply cold compresses and call your dentist who can prescribe either pain medicine or antibiotics if needed.

Accidental cut and bleeding on Lip, Check, and Tongue: Apply cold compresses and / or ice to control the swelling. Apply gently pressure until swelling succeeds. If bleeding cannot be control go to an emergency room as soon as possible.

Knocked Out of a Baby Tooth: Wash area with warm water and keep clean as much as possible. If any bleeding occurs, it should stop after few minutes. Try to observe for any debris or a tooth’s piece that may remain in the gum socket. Contact your Pediatric Dentist for additional recommendations. Schedule a visit with the office during business hours.

Knocked Out Permanent Tooth: If possible find the tooth. Handle it by the white enamel and not by the roots. Rinse the tooth with water only. If patient is old enough try to reinsert the tooth into the socket while biting on a piece of gauze or cotton. If the patient refused to put it in by himself, keep the tooth in a cup with patience own saliva or milk. Look for the assistance of a dentist as soon as possible.
